It begins.

So this is the first blog I have written since an ICT in high-school many years ago. Well not that many years, but it feels so far in the past that I really have to strain to remember the details.

Anyway, the purpose of this blog entry is really just to give me some text to work with. At the moment I am fiddling with HTML, CSS and PHP for the blog page, presumably the page you are now currently reading. So at the moment this blog is more for me than it is for you, my avid fans!

• Note the random emphasis in the previous paragraph (bold and italics). Just testing it all out really because I am using something called Markdown to write this blog.
• It's just a way of formatting the text that is a little more human readable than writing in HTML, and will be relatively easy for those colleagues of mine who don't know HTML. The Markdown test is converted to HTML by a PHP script.
• Another bullet point, because three is a magic number.

By the way, it' 6:25AM so I'm:

1. Very tired
2. Very tired
3. Very tired

Now a nested list:

1. First, get these ingredients:

   • carrots
   • celery
   • lentils

2. Boil some water.

3. Dump everything in the pot and follow this algorithm:

   find wooden spoon
   uncover pot
   stir
   cover pot
   balance wooden spoon precariously on pot handle
   wait 10 minutes
   go get someone who can actually cook
